1. What Branch Reader is
Branch Reader is a local-first desktop application for deep reading: importing texts, paragraph-anchored Q&A, fact-checking, and spaced review. These terms govern your use of the app and this website.
2. Your content
Everything you import and create is yours. Your content is stored on your device; you can export it at any time, on every plan including the free one. We claim no ownership or license over your content beyond the transient processing needed to answer your questions through the model provider.
3. Plans and fair use
- Free: 5 deep reads and 3 fact-checks per month. Reading, asking, exporting and reviewing what you already imported never counts.
- Pro / Pro+: unlimited use at a human reading pace, subject to fair-use caps (currently ~100 deep reads per month on Pro; ~100/300 fact-checks on Pro/Pro+). Reaching a cap shows a notice — it never hard-blocks you, but sustained scripted or automated use is grounds for limiting service.
- BYOK: a one-time purchase that unlocks using your own LLM API key. Your usage under your own key is between you and your provider and is not metered against plan quotas.
- Prices are in USD. iOS pricing differs where offered. You can cancel a subscription anytime; imported content remains accessible and exportable forever.
4. Acceptable use
- No automated scraping of the service, reselling access, or sharing baked-in credentials.
- No use of fact-check results as sole grounds for consequential decisions — model output can be wrong, and sources should be verified.
- No uploading content you have no right to process.
5. Model output disclaimer
Answers are generated by language models and are labeled by evidence level (source / inference / external). They are aids to understanding, not authoritative statements. Branch Reader is not liable for decisions made on model output.
6. Payments, refunds, licenses
Payments and license delivery are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. BYOK licenses are validated at activation and periodically revalidated on your device; a license found invalid or refunded is deactivated. Refund policy: 14 days, no questions asked. [TODO: 法务复核]
7. Service availability & changes
The desktop app works offline for already-imported content; features requiring model calls depend on third-party availability. We may change quotas or features with notice on this site; material changes to paid terms apply from the next billing cycle.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Branch Reader's aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. [TODO: 法务复核]
